Jion

Jion is classed as a "free kata" and may be chosen as a grading kata by Nidan and above, however it is also common for it to be selected by sho and Nidan grades. One of the main references for this kata is Nakayama Sensei "Best Karate" Volume 8. Nakayama states "This kata ia appropriate for mastering rotational movements and shifting directions."
